Lewis Latimer, a Black Man, made the telephone & electric lighting possible in American homes

Lewis Latimer created the blueprint drawings for the first telephone in 1876. Lewis Latimer’s employer Alexander Graham Bell paid Latimer to draft the telephone blueprint, then Bell patented the blueprint Latimer drew.

Thomas Edison light bulb burned out in hours. Lewis Latimer’s light bulb lasted months, because Lewis Latimer invented a method making carbon filaments for the Maxim electric incandescent lamp he patented in 1882.

In 1884, Thomas Edison hired Lewis Latimer & together they made electric lighting possible in American homes #BlackHistory
