Follow dancer Kevin Paradox's process and practice behind the scenes. Here exploring an amazing song of Kucka remixed by Medasin.

Hi guys, so I was thinking that I share dance video's and Q&A's with you guys but not much of my personal process that happens behind the scene's of the video's, battles etc you see me in.

So as a test I am posting this part of my dance training to give you different insights and perspectives of my personal dance exploration!

If you like this please let me know because then I will keep doing this.

Analysis:

Reason for practice:
First off let's start with why I was having this training.
Before I train I always have an overall reason to my practice, this helps me to filter music, exercises and expression.
For instance if my reason for my training is exploring new movements, I might choose only music I never danced to before.
And choose to not use any concepts that my body is use to.
However if I would want to develop a certain technique more I would choose specific music that would fit the technique
and focus on drilling and doing movements over and over again instead of freestyling.

The reason is important because it is the canvas and colors that I give to my body.

I had several reasons for this practice:
1. Expression
2. Exploration of deeper concepts within movement
3. Connecting different movements together
4. Connecting to music that I did not know in different ways

Step by step Analysis and Explanation:

I stand on one leg to play with the shifting of my weight and start of my dance with a more exploring approach to the music.
Our beginning of our dance is most important because it sets the standard for the rest of the story.
[00:19]-[00:21]
I play a little bit with direction changes, where I choose to move my body part into directions that do not follow eachother up.
[00:23]-[00:27]
I stop in my walk twice on purpose to get a sense of total control before I continue my dance.
[00:28]-[00:32]
Expressing a groove that is memorable/relatable and helps me to also keep the relationship and feeling of the music.
The same thing I do in:[00:48]-[00:50][1:21]-[1:24]
[00:33]-[00:36]
Using different body parts to express the melody in the music. Than bounce up and down to still have my own rhythm, story and expression
next tot the sound the music gives me.
[00:56]-[00:58]
Trying to create a separation of different directions with the head, arm and leg. First separated and than head and leg connected to the same direction.
[1:08]-[1:14]
Using the mirror as a prop to dive deeper into my own exploration by giving myself new impulses.
[1:30]-[1:33]
Trying to create the atmosphere of the music/the background harmonies with my arms.
[1:34]-[1:42]
Concept of blowing myself up like a balloon and letting the air back out.
[1:54]-[2:16]
Focusing more on the lyrics and trying to express the same vibe as the singer.
[2:21]-[2:30]
Creating smooth connections between concepts and legs.
[2:33]-[2:38]
Coordinative movement where the arm trickers the hip to move, the hand leads in circle and the chest follows the same circle, the hand and the chest move opposite from eachother.
[2:40]
Bringing the controlled stop from the beginning back to put a bigger emphasis on the next sound.
[2:41]-[2:44]
Emphasizing the echo of the voice.
[2:46]-[2:50]
Going from the relatable groove from left right left right to purposely hesitate the direction to further the story of the simple groove.
[3:02]-[3:04]
Trying to create a wave from the leg to the arm in a way I never did before.
[3:10]-[3:18]
Focusing on just expression of the feeling the music gives me.
[3:19]-[3:22]
Expressing the full and shaky sound of the synthesizer
