In this video, we dissect a very large hugelkultur bed to reuse the soil that resulted from the breakdown of the large and small trees that were used to create this large hugelkultur growing system These 5 beds seen in this video were created in the fall of 2012 and produced several crops which were remarkable. Now we can see that the trees nearly completely broke down into beautiful organic soil teeming with life. Only 4 large tree trunks failed to decompose over the last 8 years likely because they were buried in a very wet trench. This video is long however I wanted to show the entire 2-day process of using a mini-excavator to take apart the large system. Because of difficulty uploading this video I did not include the second day of excavation when I dug up the 4 large logs. I'll be happy to upload the second day if it is requested.
