Half-Life" is a first-person shooter video game developed by Valve Corporation and released in 1998. It follows the story of Gordon Freeman, a theoretical physicist who finds himself caught in a catastrophic experiment gone wrong at the Black Mesa Research Facility.

The game begins with Freeman arriving at work for a routine day at the facility. However, an experiment with an alien material called "Xen" goes awry, causing a resonance cascade that opens portals to another dimension, unleashing various alien creatures into the facility. As Gordon Freeman, players must navigate through the increasingly chaotic and dangerous facility, battling both alien creatures and human military forces sent to cover up the incident.
