Today Michael plops down and talks the skinny about Casio and G-Shock and why he loves them. Of course there is the Casioak (G-Shock GA-2100) and it's a watch Michael guarantees he will be adding to his collection soon BUT for right now he just wants to talk about the classic. The notorious DW-5600.

Today, Michael dives into why he loves the Casio G-Shock so much, specifically his DW-5600!!!

Reason #1: The History. Created in 1983 by Kikuo Ibe (well, conceptualized in 81 but brought to life in 83), Mr. Ibe was inspired to create a watch that really could take a beating after the accidental smashing of a pocket watch gifted to him by his father. He assembled a team, nicknamed Team Tough, who abided by what they called the Triple Ten Rules: 10 Bar water resistance, 10 Meter drop protection, and a 10 year battery life. Finally, after much trial and error, they were able to accomplish this goal.

Reason #2: Simple...yet complex. There really isn't much explanation required for this point. The watch is incredibly simple in its most basic ideas, being durable and accurate, with a fairly simple design to boot, but at the same time, to compare its functionality to a mechanical watch with the same complications, you're basically looking at Patek's Grandmaster Chime. It's an iconic design with a ton of functionality. Nuff said.

Reason #3: A G-Shock Philosophy. The G-Shock is the ultimate do anything watch. It thrives in extremes, doing its best in situations that any mechanical watch might just run away from from fear, and it does so with a smile. While your Submariner might be your "beater" watch, I guarantee you you still think about the fact that it's a Rolex while you're doing it. With G-Shock, you just...do the thing.
