In episode 68 of Whisky in SV, I did a blind tasting of three of the last Hazelburn Oloroso Cask special releases: the 15 Year from April 2022 bottled at 54.2% ABV, the 12 year from Nov 2022 bottled at 49.9% ABV, and the 15 year from Sept 2023 bottled at 55.8% ABV. As you probably know, Hazelburn is triple-distilled unpeated single malt whisky from the famed Springbank distillery from the Campbeltown region of Scotalnd which is a small Island on the West Coast. I would classify this whiskies as "sherry bombs" meaning they have a pretty heavy sherry influence. They are all very nice, but during this blind, I preferred the 2023 15 Year over the other two. I think the 12 year, while very good, definitely does not live up to the 15-year variants because it feels thinner and younger on the palate. Overall, I think these are great whiskies if you can find them at MSRP, but they are definitely bordering on not being worth it at the inflated US MSRP. #whiskyinsv    • #WhiskyInSV 068: Blind Battle of Haze...
