This is story about Project Tibia 3D, which was started in May 2012. At first, I wasn't planning to build all Tibia in Minecraft…
First idea concern only one of Tibia's city – Thais. In May 2011 I started to build this oldest Tibia's city by myself. Back then it wasn't yet called Project Tibia 3D, but Project Thais, and little later – Project Thais Reactivation. It took me about one year! In early March 2012 Thais has been completed.
After that, I launch a small server, to players who's wants to visit Thais in 3D. At end of April, more and more people started to write to me, that they want to help with continuation of this project. And in 12 May 2012 I manage to set up server, and officially begin Project Tibia 3D (later named Project Tibia 3D season I). Begin wasn't hard, really. To help in building joined many great players and some of them are still in project! Great thanks for: Valdafaluk, Dahaka, Arek, Stachu, Blackninja, Intenssimo, LucarioPL, David3234, Domi675 (I hope I have missed no one). Because of you, we have made great progress in first season!
Season I ended in 1st September 2012. After not long break, season II had started in December 2012 and end at 13 January 2013. Third season was in summer holidays 2013. To that moment, server was only building area. Visitors could visit the map but that was all they could do.
First change of that appear at IV season – summer vacation 2014. Now players could gain levels by hunting on few spawns (not Tibia like, but some standard MC plugin), choosing vocations and skills. Yes, each vocation has some skills – two Primary, three Secondary, two Additional. Player was able to take one for each category. By gaining level, their damage was stronger too. All that system was made in BIG command block system connected to redstone clock under Thais :D Maybe somebody still remember these vocations rooms and skills like heal every 30s, Power, Regeneration, Light (all made by command blocks, effects, and by giving items). That was funny times! Of course map was all time in progress!
But one of the biggest changes brings Season V, which starts in middle of July 2015. At begin nothing has changed – map was progress and redstone clock still was in use :p But in the first days of August I’ve began to develop dedicated plugin to server. Players were able to gain skills, use spells like in Tibia, trade with npc, and much more (although many things worked on other plugins, like mobs). After that, I release few updates, but it wasn't anything big, due my studies. Season V also was first season, which hadn’t took a break during holidays! Server was online 24/7 from 12 July 2015 to last August 2016.
Then in first of September 2016 begin season VI. Someone might ask “why next season now, if server was all time online?”. Answer is my dedicated plugin. My custom pt3dPlugin replaced all other plugins that were in use. Finally mob system, accounts and characters system, EQ system, and many, many more things were added. Since then there was many bigger and smaller updates to plugin (about what I inform on fb, forum and twitch). All time map is in progress of course :)
And now is 12 May 2017. Five years after started PT3D Project, and six after started Project Thais.
If I knew what I was throwing myself into, I’d call myself a madman. 100% surface of Mainland, about 90% of it’s dungeons, Yalahar, Edron, so many isles… really. Back then I was thinking how it would be, to enter to Thais by north Gate, look into Frodo's Hut, walk to Temple, then by Main Street to Depo. How it would look in 3D. And now… from Thais lighthouse I can see Carlin, Venore, Kazordoon and many other places :D
At end of that too long PT3D history in nutshell, I want to thanks You all, who support us, playing in server, and of course, building map :)
There is still a lot of work to do, but when I look back, from where we begin, I know We can do this, and make Tibia 3D!
