Here's what we’ve been working on for the Milwaukee-Eight™ to help the wet sumping issues. On all of the kits that we're doing now, we are recommending the fueling camplate and pump but as these motors get bigger and bigger there’s going to need to be more extensive work down to the bottom end to control this oil sumping issue.

We’ve designed a scraper that basically goes into the bottom end of the motor. Brian designed it and built it in-house. The scraper bolts into the case that controls the oiling pick-up. That’s what seems to be the problem, the consistency of the pick-up of the oil. We profile the case to make more volume, it picks up all the way across the case. Regardless if the bike is on its sides stand or, in a corner going down the highway. You have three pick-ups. The original Harley-Davidson has one here in the corner - the biggest problem here is the inconsistency where the hole breaks though the case (it varies anywhere from 100/1000ths to 150/1000ths higher or lower).

How this works is as its bolted in and the flywheel spins, we have the scraper that’s running 60/1000ths from the wheel. So as it comes around and scrapping the residual oil off of the wheel and forcing it beneath the sump to where it’s being picked-up. What this does is - it keeps it from cavitating and losing the prime of the pump. That’s one of the biggest problems these things have - we see a lot when they’re sitting on the side stand; they’ll start to wet sump.

But this scraper makes everything more consistent - controls the oil and residual oil that gets passed to the sump area. As the bores gets bigger and the pressure gets bigger, it starts to blow the oil from the pick-up. What this does - it captures it here in the bottom end. We put the scraper pass the center of the crank where it was not before in the original casing - it forces everything here to be picked up a better and more consistent manner.
