Here you will learn how to correctly self install the 2GIG-PIR1-345 wireless passive infrared motion detector to a wall.

A passive infrared motion detector works by looking for motion and the heat signature matching a human being to help reduce false alarms.

Here are some tips for installation of the 2gig motion sensor:

1) Avoid pointing motion at windows, televisions, mirrors or reflective countertops.

2) Avoid fireplaces or space heaters

3) Windows are especially troublesome because they can be heated by the sun and motion of objects show through.

4) Avoid pointing 2gig motion sensor at any heat ducts or air return vent even if these areas are not in direct view of the motion detector. They heat or cool areas quickly and cause motion from the air flow. Vents or air returns can cause curtains, plants, balloons or other items to move which combined with the temperature change may cause false alarms.

5) If you have pets you should also consider. Sometimes our furry friends get into places where they shouldn't be. Avoid mounting the motion within a 6ft arch of any furniture like chairs or sofas or another surface where the pet can jump higher than the point on the floor. Similar to furniture avoid pointing motions directly towards stairs because if the animal climbs higher than the motions line it can cause false alarms. You will be able to adjust the pet immunity as well as the sensitivity of the 2gig motion using the dip switches.

6) Install the 2GIG motion in areas where there are not a lot of bugs. Although the motion is completely sealed from things getting into the sensor. Insects crawling in front of the motion sensor can cause false alarms.

7) Install the motion about 7.5 feet up from the floor
