If you're concerned about hiding the Telegram groups you’ve joined from your contacts, the good news is that Telegram keeps your group memberships private by default. Contacts cannot see which groups you are a member of unless they are also in the same group. In that case, Telegram may display you as a mutual member. Otherwise, your participation in any group remains invisible to others.

Telegram does not offer a setting to broadcast or display all your group memberships, unlike social platforms like Facebook. So if your worry is that someone might browse your profile or activity and find out which groups you’ve joined, that won’t happen through Telegram’s system.

However, there are still ways to maintain an extra layer of privacy. First, make sure your privacy settings are fully configured. Tap on the three horizontal lines from the top left corner of the Telegram app, then go to Settings. From there, select Privacy and Security. Here you can adjust who can see your phone number, last seen, profile photo, and more. Setting these options to 'Nobody' or 'My Contacts' ensures people outside your trusted circle won’t have access to personal information.

Additionally, if someone messages you after discovering your username through a group, you can disable the ability for strangers to find you by username or limit who can message you under Privacy settings as well. If needed, you can always leave a group silently or archive the group chat so it’s not easily visible in your main chat list.
