L. Frank Baum wrote fourteen books set in the Land of Oz, and a bunch of short stories. Many of the short stories were never illustrated by beloved Oz illustrator John R. Neill.

In one of them, the Tin Woodman gets swept away into the waters of a powerful dam. In America. America??

Baum's "Lost Stories of Oz" takes place in America, when many of the beloved characters from Oz come to visit Dorothy in Kansas.

We at Squeaky Books are reviving many of Baum's lost or forgotten works, re-illustrating them in the style of John R. Neill. It is our goal with this project to imagine what the illustrations might have been like had they been drawn by beloved Oz illustrator John R. Neill, who illustrated forty-two Oz novels, including thirteen by Baum.

For this series, we have stitched together portions of Neill's original artwork with our own illustrations, attempting to invoke the spirit and linework of John R. Neill. We hope the result brings these stories back to life for a new generation of readers to enjoy.
