Janice E. Knoefel MD,MPH is professor of Neurology and Internal Medicine (Geriatrics) at UNM. She graduated from the Ohio State University School of Medicine and trained in internal medicine, neurology, geriatric neurology and public health. She has been on the faculties of the University of Cincinnati and Boston University. At the University of New Mexico since 1996, she is active in clinical care, teaching and research. She is clinical director of the Center for Memory & Aging Clinic and the administrative core co-director of the NIH-funded NM Alzheimer Disease Research Center.

Objectives:
1.Review common causes of late-life cognitive decline
2.Operationalize diagnostic criteria of common dementia syndromes
3.Identify therapeutic options
4.Recognize understand potential new treatments
