Before writing Can't Get You Out of My Head, Cathy Dennis, wrote Two in a Million, Reach, Natural, and Never Had a Dream Come True for S Club 7. She wrote several songs for former S Club 7 member Rachel Stevens including "Sweet Dreams My LA Ex". She co-wrote the S Club 7 track Two In a Million which was on the group’s debut album S Club. It reached No.2 in the UK Singles Chart and was among the first of the group’s many Cathy Dennis-written Top 10 hits. She also wrote for Rachel Stevens and Kylie Minogue, whose Can’t Get You Out of My Head topped the UK Singles Chart in 2001.

Jointly written by Cathy Dennis and Rob Davis, "Can't Get You Out of My Head" is a dance-pop song with the famous "la la" hook. "Can't Get You Out of My Head" found commercial success on a large scale becoming Minogue's biggest hit in the United States since "The Loco-Motion". "Can't Get You Out of My Head" reached number one in many countries.
