This Video Will Help You On How and Where To Go To Check If your USDOT Number, MC Number, Or Operating Authority Is Active or Authorized for Transport. Once You Apply For Your Operating Authority there is a 21 day protest period. In that time you will need to have a BOC-3 on File as well as Commercial Liability Insurance. Once your 21 day protest period is up, your Authority will be Active and You will be Authorized for Transport.

Please Note: Anyone who is Local only (Intrastate) will only need a USDOT number and this does not require a MC Number and does not need to wait a 21 day protest period. Your DOT Number will be Active and assigned the same day you Apply.

Once you are Active you will need to have other things in place. You may need Apportioned plates if you wish to travel between states and maybe even an IFTA license. You will also need to make sure you have your Compliance and Safety in place. You will be Audited in the first 6 to 12 months.
