When in Rome: get married and take amazing photos.

Planning your destination wedding? I traveled to Rome to meet up with Karen and Thomas.  The photo session in Rome was a fantastic experience, but we had to get up pretty early in the morning to beat the tourists to the best locations.  The early bird gets the photos!  The wedding portrait photo shoot was a perfect combination for me.  Making portraits with beautiful landscapes in the background is very much "my thing," but add some incredible street photography with a documentary and historical twist and I am in heaven.  Still, it's not just enough to be in the location, there is so much going on in every photograph.  The photographer has to be aware of every element in the background and how it interacts with the couple in the foreground.

The addition of documentary style street photography going on all around us meant that I needed to be watching two stories at the same time.  How does the story in the background interact with the story in the foreground?  It's not just about composition.. there are stories being told as well, and there are moving elements that can intersect with the subject at any time and then there is exposure and lighting.  It's no walk in the park, but it's a whole lot of fun.  I hope you enjoy this look back at a beautiful wedding as much as I do.
