Electricity flows in two ways: either in an alternating current (AC) or in a direct current (DC). Electricity or "current" is nothing but the movement of electrons through a conductor, like a wire. The difference between AC and DC lines in the direction in which the electrons flow. In DC, the electrons flow steadily in a single direction, or "forward." In AC, electrons keep switching directions, sometimes going "forward" and then going "backward."

Alternating current is the best way to transmit electricity over large distances.
( बिजली दो तरह से प्रवाहित होती है: या तो एक प्रत्यावर्ती धारा (AC) में या एक प्रत्यक्ष धारा (DC) में। बिजली या "वर्तमान" एक कंडक्टर के माध्यम से एक तार की तरह इलेक्ट्रॉनों की आवाजाही के अलावा कुछ भी नहीं है। जिस दिशा में इलेक्ट्रॉनों का प्रवाह होता है, एसी और डीसी लाइनों के बीच का अंतर। डीसी में, इलेक्ट्रॉन एक ही दिशा में स्थिर रूप से प्रवाहित होते हैं, या "आगे"। एसी में, इलेक्ट्रॉन स्विचिंग दिशाओं को जारी रखते हैं, कभी-कभी "आगे" जाते हैं और फिर "पिछड़े" जा रहे हैं।
