57-Almost back to the Mainland

We stayed in our narrowboat in Garstang for two days, a lovely little market town in Lancashire. The market held weekly on a Thursday dates back to the early 1300 and stretches the length of the High Street.
Leaving Garstang we cross the River Wyre on a fine stone aqueduct by the engineer John Rennie and head south on the Lancaster Canal. We moored at an isolated mooring between bridges 55 and 66 just south of Garstang for a couple of days and this video picks up from here. We continue our southward journey as we have our Ribble Link crossing booked.
The canal here is quiet and dotted with the odd house or farm but staying quite remote.
We soon encounter the new Flower Bowl complex, and entertainment centre which includes an Ice curling Rink, a crazy golf course, virtual darts, bowling alley and cinema. . Certainly plenty to do to keep people entertained. There was also a lovely garden centre and farm shop which was more to our taste. Next door to this was Moons bridge Marina who offered boat trips.
Further south we encountered Bilsborrow where we stayed for a couple of nights. Here we found Owd Nells and Guys Thatched Hamlet, a canal side tavern and restaurant with conference facilities and accommodation.
There are boaters facilities here which we made use of as they are the last ones before the Ribble Link crossing apart from a water tap at Swillbrook. At Swillbrook bridge we pass a boat yard but continue until just after bridge 24 where we moored for a couple of days before our Ribble Link crossing.
