This week’s landscape photography adventure sees me take the Nikon D5300 to Bamburgh Castle where I take a stroll through the dunes, walk along the beach and explore the photographic opportunities at sunset.

Patience is a virtue and an essential element in the landscape photographer’s repertoire. This week’s film is all about taking the opportunity to get outside and maximising one’s chances of capturing memorable images.

This particular evening started out with dark mean and moody skies but nevertheless I ventured out with hope of capturing the essence of Bamburgh beach and castle whatever the weather.

My enthusiasm and dedication paid off with it being only a matter of time before the setting sun broke through from under a low bank of medium height clouds and illuminated my scenes with some beautiful late golden light.

Towards sunset and whilst shooting Bamburgh Castle it was again just a matter of time whilst I waited for the incoming tide to wash away all traces of the day’s beach activities leaving a pearlescent foreground to compliment the images and provide a reflective surface to mirror the castle.

Bamburgh Castle, on the northeast coast of England, by the village of Bamburgh in Northumberland, is a Grade I listed building. The site was originally the location of a Celtic Brittonic fort known as Din Guarie and may have been the capital of the kingdom of Bernicia from its foundation c. 420 to 547.

This iconic edifice makes for a stunning subject to photograph from where I enjoyed a thoroughly cracking evening taking photographs and making memories.
