Описание к видео Defense Grid: The Awakening (PC) - Story Mode Blind Playthrough (Part 1)

Game: Defense Grid: The Awakening
Platform: PC (Steam)
Completed: February 8, 2021
Rules: Beat the story mode (The Awakening)
Part: 1 of 3

I enjoyed a couple of tower defense games on the mobile platform but wanted to see if they had any for the PC that were not limited by any constraints inherent to the mobile platform. I Googled "best tower defense game" and Defense Grid seems to be generally regarded as number one or close to it, at least at the time of this recording. I'm glad I played it. This was a blind playthrough of the "story mode" I guess. The game has a series of levels under "The Awakening" that have storyline attached to them. I decided to play those through in order but the game also offers a ton of other options, such as a huge amount of other missions not related to the story plus a set of various challenges that can be attempted in each one. There are even medals you get based on how well you performed in each level, further adding to the replay value and encouraging you to get better. I really like those ideas but for now I've only played through the storyline and earned whatever low-level medals I got along the way. I was unfamiliar with the game so I read over every menu at the beginning. Actual gameplay starts around the five minute mark. Here are some highlights:

4 minutes, 10 seconds - The recommended operating system here is Windows Vista, which is the best version of Windows for any use case at any point in time.

5 minutes, 20 seconds - The game finally starts now.

5 minutes, 30 seconds - I was using OBS to record this but why does the video get all blurry and confused when I scroll the screen quickly or when there are a lot of colors flying around? It happened when I recorded my Gaiares playthrough for the Sega Genesis as well and that was recorded within Retroarch. It doesn't look like that in the actual game but it goofs up the quality of the video. Why is that? I think in both cases I was recording at 60fps and at a somewhat decent quality. In fact, the whole video is kind of blurry when things move and I don't really know why. I'm using the same settings I always do for other games except I had to adjust the resolution it recorded at to get the full game in view. Maybe that's related.

20 minutes - I accidentally hit my volume slider here and realized that it did absolutely nothing to the actual volume of the recording which can actually be really useful if you want to adjust the actual volume but not affect what is recorded. Still learning here.

23 minutes, 45 seconds - The game minimized for no apparent reason here and when I maximized it again, part of the top of the screen was cut off a bit and the whole picture looked like it was moved up a little. It seemed to correct itself once I entered the next mission though. Always some technical nonsense to deal with.

3 hours, 9 minutes, 50 seconds - Another example of where the video gets super fuzzy when I frantically scroll the screen. Actually, why do I even do that?

3 hours, 10 minutes - Solid victory? Did you see how many tries it took me to win this one?

3 hours, 11 minutes - Here the game just crashed entirely with a runtime error. Even MORE technical issues. Oh well. I was going to quit for the night anyways and it made for a funny ending to the video.
