There's only one problem. For some reason, she seems to hate you, and you don't know why. But tonight her roommates are having a party, and you intend to tell her how you feel. You hope that you can straighten things out...

Nightshade's notes: I wanted to do something for pride month, but you know me, I try not to assign any particular gender, orientation, or other type of identity to my listener character. I really like to keep my audios inclusive. So ideally, since I am bi/pan myself, I wanted to portray a bi/pan speaker character. But I was having a hard time finding something like that. So when the month was nearing an end and I hadn't found the right script? I realized I was trying too damn hard. I've had this script by softlikestatic saved forever, and now was the perfect excuse to use it. Static allows genderflipping of characters, so I simply mentioned that the ex in the script was female, and now we have representation of a queer speaker. And arguably one of the better kinds of representation -- it's just there, a normal part of life, and no one has an issue with it.

Makenzie Mazing was kind enough to record a few lines as one of their friends, looking for them during the party. It was just a small thing, and I could have probably just increased the volume of the crowd in the background for a moment, but I think what she did there was perfect for the moment. She said the lines perfectly. My headcanon is this -- that was Kendall, you know, the one you went on one date with some time ago. Jordan's roommate. :grin: And another headcanon -- she was the only one there who hadn't figured out where the two of them went and what, exactly, they were doing. Someone else probably poked their head in earlier and then immediately turned on their heel to give them privacy. I mean, it's the kitchen. People should be going in and out like crazy. I think their friends were out there running interference, keeping people out, because by god, it was about time those two finally hooked up! The tension was terrible! So in my headcanon, when Makenzie aka Kendall came looking for them, one of their other friends patiently led her away to get another drink. From the keg in the living room. Or maybe a soda from the cooler on the balcony, idk. Just. Somewhere FAR away from the kitchen.

Second, more minor headcanon -- the other roommates are continually arguing about the music in the other room. That's why there are pauses in between songs, and why the type of music changes a couple of times. Roommates, man.

I should also thank Timeraft for unintentionally helping me get a better grasp of this character by discussing our varying experiences with punks irl. Thanks, dude! That actually helped me a lot.
