SINQUEFIELD CUP 2024_ROUND 9: FIROUTZA WINNER OF SINQUEFIELD CUP 2024 AND GRAND CHESS TOUR 2024 !!

The Sinquefield Cup 2024 is the fifth event of the Grand Chess Tour 2024, the second and last in classic cadence. It directly succeeds Saint-Louis Rapide and Blitz 2024. The tournament is held in Saint-Louis, Missouri in the United States and is organized by the Chess Club and Scholastic Center of Saint Louis. It is a “Round Robin” tournament with 9 rounds and 10 participants. The 2023 edition was won by Fabiano Caruana, who also became the 2023 Grand Chess Tour Champion.

The American champion will be present this year to defend his title against the best players in the world, including the current World Champion, Liren Ding, his future challenger, the young Indian Gukesh D, as well as the 2 best French players, Alireza FIroujza and Maxime Vachier-Lagrave. Liren Ding is the only guest at this stage of the Tour. Among the 9 permanent members, Alireza Firoujza and Fabiano Caruana will surely compete for the victory in the Tour at the end of this last stage.
