The Dremans are a humanoid civilization, native to the planet Benev Selec, also known as Drema IV. They are characterized by their dark orange skin, enlarged foreheads and long fingers

Drema IV, also known as Benev Selec, is the fourth planet in the Selcundi Drema system, and the homeworld of the Dremans, a humanoid species. It's a Class M planet within the United Federation of Planets' protectorate, known for its unstable geological conditions. The instability is caused by a large deposit of dilithium ore beneath the planet's crust, which converts geothermal energy into seismic activity. The USS Enterprise-D was the first Starfleet vessel to survey Drema IV and, after discovering its geological issues and communicating with a young Dreman named Sarjenka, helped stabilize the planet by using harmonic resonators to shatter the dilithium lattices. 

Planet and Species:

Drema IV is a Class M planet (Earth-like) in the Selcundi Drema system and the homeworld of the Dremans, a pre-warp civilization. 

Geological Instability:

The planet suffers from extreme geological instability due to a massive deposit of dilithium ore. This ore is arranged in a lattice structure that amplifies the planet's natural heat, causing tectonic stresses. 

Starfleet's Involvement:

The USS Enterprise-D, under Captain Picard, surveyed Drema IV in 2365. They discovered the dilithium-induced instability and, after initial hesitation due to the Prime Directive, decided to intervene. 

Intervention and Stabilization:

Data contacted Sarjenka, a Dreman girl, and through her, Picard learned of the planet's impending destruction. The Enterprise used harmonic resonators in probes to shatter the dilithium lattices, stabilizing the planet. 

Non-Canon Event:

In some non-canon storylines, Drema IV is also mentioned as being invaded by a species called the Exiles, who are later defeated by the Dremans with the help of the Enterprise's probes.
