At just three inches long, the White-bellied Woodstar is one of the world’s smallest birds. Its movements while foraging are slow and deliberate; you could call it bee-like. 🐝 This mimicry might be a White-bellied Woodstar’s secret to slipping past predators or larger birds battling for the same buds. 💮

But this bitty, bold bird isn't invincible. While their small size and retiring ways make it difficult to estimate their population size, habitat degradation in their range suggests the population is in decline.
