The Havila Ferry is a Norwegian coastal voyage that shows you some of Norway’s most beautiful landscapes in 12 days. In this video, I’ll take you through the process of boarding the Havila ferry and what to expect on your first night. I took the Havila ferry as a solo traveler, and was surprised by how many other solo travelers were also on board!

Hurtigruten is the most famous passenger ferry service in Norway, but they’re not the only one. Havila entered the coastal scene in 2021 with four identical ships that offer a more eco-friendly way to see Norway. I was on board the Pollux, but the Havila ships are identical, so it won’t matter if you’re on a different ship.

The 12-day coastal voyage from Bergen to Kirkenes makes 34 port stops, which range from large cities to tiny Arctic villages, with plenty of excursions along the way.

I went on the Havila Ferry at the end of November, and sailed into polar night on our voyage. Taking the Havila ferry in the winter brings less daylight, but more opportunities to see the Northern Lights, which is what I was after.
