The Cornish Federation of Male Voice Choirs hopes that you enjoy the pieces on this album, recorded on 2nd November 2013 at the Royal Albert Hall. It attempts to capture the atmosphere generated in a packed and pulsating venue when an audience of over 4,000 joined with a massed male voice choir of over 600, a 70 strong youth orchestra and a boys choir of 120 to celebrate Cornish music and identity. Nowhere is this achieved better than in the singing of `Trelawny', the finale to the evening; generating a `hwyl' and `hiraeth'. that can only be imagined as one listens to it here. Celebrating their 30th anniversary, this was the fourth time that The Cornish Federation of Male Voice Choirs had presented a massed male voice choir charity concert such as this at the Royal Albert Hall. 27 choirs are represented, conducted by four MDs of Cornish Male Voice Choirs elected for this honour by the member choirs of the Federation. The emphasis on youth within the selection of the guest artistes represents the Federation's appreciation that the future musicians of Cornwall should be nurtured and supported. In Cornwall Cambiata, in particular, lies the future of male choral singing within the Duchy. This spectacular and highly successful event raised substantial funds for three beneficiaries, the RNLI, Cornwall Hospice Care and the BBC Radio Cornwall Appeal.
