Spinal Cord Injury Recovery in Paralysis | Spinal Cord Treatment | SRIAAS

Today, In this video, Dr. Sanskriti (Physiotherapist) will tell us about recovery of spinal cord injury.

The spinal cord is a collection of nerves that travels from the bottom of the brain down your back. There are 31 pairs of nerves that leave the spinal cord and go to your arms, legs, chest and abdomen.

The spinal cord is very sensitive to injury. Unlike other parts of your body, the spinal cord does not have the ability to repair itself if it is damaged. A spinal cord injury occurs when there is damage to the spinal cord either from trauma, loss of its normal blood supply. The spinal cord is a bundle of nerves and other tissue that the vertebrae of the spine contain and protects. Most cases can be divided into two types of spinal cord injury – complete spinal cord injury vs. incomplete:
• A complete spinal cord injury causes permanent damage to the area of the spinal cord that is affected. Paraplegia or tetraplegia are the results of complete spinal cord injuries.
• An incomplete spinal cord injury refers to partial damage to the spinal cord. The ability to move and the amount of feeling depends on the area of the spine injured and the severity of the injury. Outcomes are based on a patient’s health and medical history.

Long-term treatment for people with spinal cord injuries is complex. The type of treatment will vary depending on the severity and location of the injury.

Spinal cord injuries usually involve long periods of rehabilitation and recovery. Treatment begins immediately after the injury. The early stages of recovery involve hospital care and sometimes surgery.

People with spinal cord injuries are at the greatest risk within the first year of the injury. As a result, this first year will involve regular checkups.

We, at SRIAAS, have formed a whole stroke program, investing the strength of Ayurvedic treatment in neuro-rehabilitation. This particular integration fastens the recovery method and offers the patient and caregivers exceptional edges.
