Elgar's "Nimrod" in the style of Glass

What do Elgar and Glass have in common? Well, not a whole lot, UNTIL NOW! I'd recently been listening to the Glass Etudes for piano and was especially enjoying No.6 in the set. (You can listen to Víkingur Ólafsson playing it here:    • Glass: Études: No. 6  ) I'd been thinking of arranging Nimrod for some time, and between Lang Lang's really great transcription and Alexis Ffrench's beautiful, albeit short, adaptation, I knew I would need to do something different with my version. SO! Here's is Nimrod, but in a minimalist style, with lots of repetition, ostinati, slight reharmonization (nothing quite like what Glass actually might have done, I stuck with harmonies closer to the original), subtly changing harmonic patterns, alternations between LH and RH that don't align, and some massive leaps and octaves very reminiscent of Glass' Etude No. 6. I can't say that this is a piece that would still represent the Biblical Hunter, Nimrod, but I do find it quite enjoyable to play and to listen to. I also quite like how the minimalist style seems to add to the "enigma" of the piece... hehe, get it? Thanks for listening!
