And of course, Hoffmann spectacularly fails to notice that Olympia - https://aestheticoftheimageuk.wordpre... - (Moira Shearer) is in fact not a real flesh and blood girl - but a doll, an automaton created by the wicked Spalanzani to lure Hoffmann to financial (and societal) ruin!
