In this talk, bioethicist Carolyn Ringel lays out the common arguments most people make against investing in extending the human lifespan- and explains why we will all be made better off by these advances. Ringel, JD MA is an Affiliate and Course Instructor at the Center for Bioethics at Harvard Medical School; a member of the Philanthropic Board of Advisors, Boston Children's Hospital; and a member of the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital Committee on Clinical Investigation, Continuing Review Committee. She writes and presents on topics ranging from care for transgender patients to the societal and ethical implications of aging and longevity research.
