Taiwan: Taipei, Tamsui Lover's Bridge, Jiufen mountain town and Sun Moon Lake

Yet another throwback to a memorable pre-pandemic trip we've had, going to Taiwan (from Bangkok). This country has it all, from a exciting city scene, quaint mountain towns with narrow old streets, to serene and beautiful lakes with a lovely wild-life and lots of sights to enjoy.

Starting in the city of Taipei, we first visit a temple and the Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall, and continue to do some more sightseeing downtown. We then head for Tamsui Fisherman's wharf and the Lover's Bridge, going by subway and boat, before taking a bus to the beautiful (sea-side) mountain town of Jiufen, where the views are spectacular and the narrow shopping streets are packed with people from near and far. Finally the trip goes with fast train, bus and boat to Sun Moon Lake, a good distance south to the central part of the island. We also here catch some breathtaking bird's eye shots of the lake and the surrounding mountains, seen from the Sun Moon Lake Ropeway (funicular).
