Honda's new and improved 2019 CB300R motorcycle stars in Episode 2 of this season's MC Commute video series. Aimed at both entry-level and more experienced riders alike, this bike blends modern styling elements from Honda's premium CB1000R, in a more accessible package, with a very attractive $4,649 MSRP. It effectively replaces the CB300F.

*Editor’s Note: at 07:16 in the YouTube video, fuel tank capacity was incorrectly stated. The correct capacity is 2.7 gallons.

We outlined some of our favorite features of it in the 2019 Honda CB300R Favorites And Fails. It also faced off against some of its competition inside the class during Cycle World's Honda CB300R, Husqvarna Vitpilen 401, KTM 390 Duke Naked Bike Comparison. Now we finally put it through its paces on the way to work as a daily commuter.

Engineers went to town when engineering the neo-sports CB300R roadster, shaving a whopping 35 pounds off the already light CB300F. With a full tank of fuel, the R weighs just 313 pounds (without ABS). This gives it title to being one of the lightest entry-level streetbikes in the 300cc class.

Although the fuel-sipping 286cc engine is mostly unchanged, aside from a slight tweak to the air intake, this roadster is so much lighter that it feels substantially more speedy than we remember with its predecessor. Higher-quality suspension components provide a smooth, well-damped ride, that works well during more spirited trips or over beat-up pothole-laden asphalt.

Don’t let its diminutive size or price tag fool you, café racer-like style, quality, and of course wind-in-your-face fun are what this CB300R is about. Watch Episode 2 of MC Commute and please leave a comment and let us know what you think of these videos.
