GOING PLACES
Some horses take to going places very well. They get out of the trailer and they are looking forward to doing something with their partner. Others take time, and guidance to realize that they can do what they do at home other places.
Tom had a opportunity to do some night clinics at our local Fairgrounds years ago.
It was good to get horses, like Jake, in a indoor environment without too much distraction. He is a very sensitive horse and can move quick. He sees everything. Tom works on having him focus on him.
When he came to Tom for training in Arizona he had just blew out from under his owner. Jake was lacking confidence and he would spook at something and jump towards you. His training started with TJ cleaning pens. TJ would push the wheelbarrow around holding a lead line to have Jake follow. Every once in a while TJ would jump or move quickly in front of Jake. This was the start of understanding there is normal movement in "the real world".
Both Tom and TJ put time into him throughout the day. It was a process and the owner decided to sell Jake to TJ since he had a bond with him.
