A woman who revealed she found a stash of knives under her bed months after breaking up with her boyfriend has divided opinion on TikTok.
Pia Blossom, a 25-year-old plus-size model from London, met her ex, not named for privacy reasons, on Instagram after he slid into her DMs asking to take her on a date in the capital's posh Mayfair area.
When the pair went back to the man’s house, she claims that he showed her his collection of knives, housed in a glass cabinet.
Despite feeling unsettled, Pia and the man arranged a second date.
"At first, I liked how forward he was and he’d planned a really lovely date for us,” Pia told Jam Press.
"He was really good-looking, thoughtful and looked like he had a lot of friends from his profile.
“I thought he was keen, which isn’t a bad thing.”
On their second date, the man allegedly showed Pia another collection of his knives, which he kept in his bedside table.
Pia said: “It took me off guard.”
“I thought it was very strange, and told him that I wasn’t comfortable.
“He apologised and said he was just proud of his collection and liked to have them close to his bed, in case he needed to protect himself from an intruder.
“He was about 6ft 5 and built, so my first thought was that he wouldn’t even need knives to protect himself if someone tried to hurt him.”
Even so, the couple’s relationship continued for a few weeks, with Pia describing the man as “the best she’d ever had.”
Eventually, they parted ways.
However, months later, while hoovering her bedroom, Pia was stunned when she spotted something under her bed – a huge stash of knives, similar to what she'd seen at her ex's house.
She said: "It wasn’t until a couple of months after we broke up that I found the knives – I obviously should hoover under my bed more often.
"I didn’t confront him; by that point he had been out of my life for a couple of months so I didn’t want to start up a dialogue with him again.
"It made me annoyed and upset that he had disrespected my boundaries and brought the knives to my house, so it just confirmed to me that I’d made the right decision.
“I thought his collection was odd, and it was unnerving to find the knives in my house, but I wasn’t scared of him.”
Pia's story has since gone viral with over 2.2 million views, as it transpires the situation may have been more complicated than it appears on the surface.
“I once had a one-night-stand with an autistic man whose special interest was knives," she says in the clip.
After sharing her story and revealing that the man was autistic, several users slammed Pia.
"Some ppl are upset I specified autistic. that’s what he said to me 'I’m autistic and my special interest is knives'. That’s the only reason," she commented under her own video. [sic]
Many, including people who are autistic, have also taken to the comments section to share their views on the man's interest in knives.
“Naturally! Makes perfect sense to me. (I am also autistic),” wrote one user.
Another person commented: “Personally, I chose swords.”
“I have a feeling he’ll find someone who has a special interest in fancy glass cases so he can STORE his collection,” said another user.
"As someone on the spectrum I know that dude definitely knows those knives are missing and can’t recall where they are and he’s losing his mind," commented someone else.
Other users still felt that Pia’s ex had crossed a boundary by leaving the knives in her room.
One person wrote: "I’m not making excuses for him but, as an autistic person, some of us need comfort items with us at all times, for him that could he knifes. 1/2," wrote one user, adding "2BUT he should have definitely told you about that! He should have asked/told you about taking knifes to your house! But this could be a reason forhim." [sic]
“[I’m] autistic too, but if ‘having random (some illegal) knives in my house makes me uncomfortable’ is a boundary then it’s a no-no, even for autistic people,” commented someone else.
"Maybe the moral is to hoover under your bed more often," joked another user.
