La Liga chairman Javier Tebas said Barcelona president Joan Laporta's explanation for the club's payments to a refereeing chief "wasn't convincing", following an extraordinary general meeting of Spanish club presidents in Madrid on Wednesday.
Barcelona were charged in March with making payments of millions of euros to a company owned by Jose Maria Enriquez Negreira - a former vice-president of Spanish football's refereeing committee.
While Tebas said he doesn't believe that Barcelona "bought" any referees, the La Liga chairman and the club presidents decided that the Catalan club defend itself in the Spanish courts, and to UEFA.
Laporta told Thursday's gathering that accusations of corruption are part of a campaign to discredit Barcelona.
