This bike is Calibre’s flagship hardtail. But what is a hardtail mountain bike?

It’s a bike with a front suspension and no rear suspension. You can ride it all year round, it’s low maintenance and a lot of fun. A great entry point for mountain biking.

Calibre has designed the Line T3 with a slack head angle and a long reach. This puts you in a stable and composed position so you can confidently let off the brakes and shred the trails.

It has a short seat tube that gives you lots of standover. This means you have a lot of freedom to move the bike underneath you, which comes in handy when you need to be nimble in the corners. It also makes the bike easy to mount and dismount. Being able to easily dismount is invaluable when things get a bit gnarly on the trail.

Calibre has got us all excited with the plus-size tyres on this bike. They give you loads of grip and add an extra level of suspension, which goes a long way on a hardtail. They help you feel planted and stop your feet from bouncing off the pedals when you’re riding rough trails.

All that control on the downhill doesn’t compromise efficiency on the climbs either.

The Line has a steep seat tube which puts you in a comfortable position while the high-quality 1x11 Speed Sram NX drivetrain propels you up the hills. A single cog up front and a wide range of gears at the back is a simple, low-hassle system. It has all the gears you’ll ever need, but only one derailleur to maintain, and only one lever on the bars.

These plus size tyres come into play again on the climbs. With a wide surface area and lots of grip, they absorb bumps and feel less twitchy than other tyres.

Calibre has also fitted a top-quality KS rage dropper post. This saves you a lot of time fiddling with a seat clamp, which is especially difficult in the cold months.

All of this contributes to saving energy on the climbs so you can spend more time enjoying the downhill.

Components like the threaded bottom bracket and external cables are neat, tidy and easily accessible, meaning you can get the bike caked in mud and not have to worry about too much fiddly maintenance.
