The musculoskeletal system is the part of the body that helps us move, stand, and perform daily activities. It is made up of bones, muscles, and joints. These parts work together to give the body support, movement, and stability.

Bones form the framework of the body. They give shape and support and protect important organs such as the brain, heart, and lungs. Bones also help in movement by acting as levers when muscles pull on them. For example, the bones in the legs help us walk, and the bones in the arms help us lift and carry objects.

Joints are the places where two or more bones meet. Joints allow the body to move in different directions. Some joints allow simple movement, like the knee and elbow which bend and straighten. Other joints, such as the shoulder and hip, allow movement in many directions. Without joints, the body would be stiff and unable to move freely.

Muscles are soft tissues attached to bones. Muscles create movement by contracting and relaxing. When a muscle shortens, it pulls on a bone and causes movement. Muscles also help maintain posture and keep the joints stable during movement. For example, when standing or walking, muscles work continuously to keep the body balanced.

The musculoskeletal system works together during everyday activities. When a person stands up from a chair, the bones support the body weight, the joints bend and straighten, and the muscles control the movement. This coordination allows smooth and safe movement.
