After 3 years and 3 months of cancer treatment, Freddie finally rang our End of Treatment Bell yesterday.

Freddie was diagnosed with leukaemia in 2021 at the age of 7, just three months after his mum had passed away from breast cancer.

He's undergone years of treatment in our Children's Clinic at Worcestershire Royal Hospital, until finally, he got to ring the bell to mark the end of his treatment!

Freddie has a phobia of needles which had to be used to inject his medication. But thanks to a VR (Virtual Reality) headset in our unit, Freddie was able to distract himself and tolerate the monthly treatment.

His dad Jamie said: "Freddie would be screaming and shouting and in the end we would have to hold him still to administer the injection, it was hugely stressful for all of us. But with the VR headset the difference is ridiculous. As soon as he had the headset on the injection can be administered quickly and easily."

Thankfully, Freddie's treatment is now complete and he could celebrate by ringing the bell and enjoying a special cake!
