Institutional, industrial, port, non-profit, and academic stakeholders gathered for the Green Shipping Industry Day 2025 to address challenges and solutions of the maritime environmental transition and act as one community to shape the future of green shipping. Ship traffic between EU ports alone is responsible for 3-4% of EU's total CO2 emissions explains European Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism, Apostolos Tzitzikostas. He states that EU has put in place one of the world's most ambitious frameworks for the decarbonisation of shipping. The fuel EU maritime regulation, the emissions trading system and the Alternative Fuel Infrastructure Regulation are creating the bunkering and onshore power supply that ships need in European ports.
