PREDICTIONS
these thru hike videos receive a wide variety of comments (thank you for posting). Some are recurring. I thought it might be easier for the viewer to refer back here for answers to questions I'm guessing (predicting) you may have:
[1] This is not intended as any kind of divisive judgement on 2021. Nor am I inviting a re hashing of that time. It is what it was. We were all there. I am simply recalling my own personal cabin fever-like feeling of needing to get out and live life.
[2] Technically, I did not walk the entire route from San Jose to Santa Cruz. that stated, I did scout out Bear Creek road and I did walk all the way to the top and back down again. I am giving myself some points for that. Even though it was a stupid thing to do.
[3] A lot of viewers comment on which side of the road I am walking on (or not walking on). In most cases there is a shot I want to take, an angle I want to capture or some scenery that is opposite of where I should be walking. When it is safe to do so, I quickly set up my camera, capture what I need, and quickly retreat to the safer side of the road. Thank you for noticing and being concerned.
[4] Right? It should be self evident that when walking or hiking long distances you need good footwear. I honestly cannot remember why I purchased and used those inexpensive mail order (rhymes with Schlamabom) shoes and alpine woolen socks. But I did and paid for it.
[5] All shots of Santa Cruz where I am not in them are taken from my subscription to Storyblocks. It's nice to be able to enjoy seeing the wharf as it was.
!!! Ben Lomond !!!
I am not the world's worst speller. But I'm in contention. I am so, so sorry for misspelling the name of this beautiful town.
