Notes that are sharp or flat are just regular notes and not better or worse than the naturals.
Just like the natural notes, they are single tones and don't have a happy or sad sound.
Sharp and flat notes are in-between the natural notes.
On a piano a sharp or flat note would be the black keys.
An example is the note between the natural A note and the natural B note.
There is only one tone between them, but that tone has two different names which are A# and B♭.
A# and B♭ are the exact same tone and note.
When talking about a song, scale, or key signature we usually speak in terms of "all sharps" or "all flats".
In basic music theory and most songs, scales, and keys you would use either all sharps or all flats and not mix them.
We'll learn later how to know when to use either sharps or flats.
So the tone/note between A and B will be referred to as A# if you're speaking in terms of all sharps
and B♭ if you're speaking in terms of all flats.
Sharps are the same letter as the natural note to its left.
A ← A# B C
Flats are the same letter as the natural notes to its right.
A B♭ → B C
