My grandmother Smt.Vidushi. Subhadramma Venkatappa (1936-2015) born in Tumkur, Karnataka, got married at tender age of 10 to Sri Bellary Venkatappa , who not only taught her nuances of Carnatic Music both Vocal and Violin but also played the role of a friend. She secured first rank (gold medalist) in violin Vidwat Examination and received appreciation by many renowned artists. She worked as a music teacher in Govt. Girls High School for more than 30 years. She started performing and teaching music. Under her guidance number of students have reached great heights. She composed music to Sri Purandara Dasa Kritis and renditions of which have been recorded into a CD. As she was a devotee of Shirdi Sai Baba. She wrote about 40 Sai bhajans, Cd of which is available as 'Karnaamrtha'. Also all her teachings and lessons have been passed on to four next generations by her in person.
In 1994, she got felicitated with the "Naada Chintamani' award and in 2008, Raga Sudhalaya Trust, Bengaluru, awarded 'Shri Purandara Puruskara'
