Kris Nation Resume Tape

Some call me "Mr. Weather", but those who know me best simply call me Kris!
I began my college career at Eastern New Mexico University. Upon arriving at Eastern, I had planned to pursue a degree in Bio Chemical Engineering but a few days after September 11, I joined KENW TV - 3 and News 3 New Mexico, the leading PBS affiliate in Eastern New Mexico. There, I was a reporter and photographer, but soon moved to weather. I graduated from Eastern New Mexico University with a B.S. in Broadcast Production, and a Minor in History. I have also completed a second B.S. in Atmospheric Science (Geo-sciences) with Mississippi State University, and most recently completed my Masters in Communication from Eastern New Mexico University.

After leaving college I worked as the weekend Meteorologist and weekday photographer with the KZTV Action 10 News in Corpus Christi, Texas where I spent two years forecasting hurricanes and local weather. I longed to return to my Eastern New Mexico roots, so in late 2007, I accepted a position with KAMR NBC4 in Amarillo, Texas. There I was the morning meteorologist and co-host of Today in Amarillo. I also got the added perk of spending the year chasing twisters. After almost getting killed by one of those twisters my wife insisted on a change of pace. Considering that we had a newborn, we moved back home to the Albuquerque, to focus on raising our son, James, and taking care of family.

The urge to return to weather became stronger and stronger and as my son grew I decided that I wanted to return. Fortunately, "Doppler" Dave Oliver remembered my work at KAMR and offered me the position of Weekend Meteorologist at KFDA News Channel 10 in 2010. My family and I returned once again to Amarillo and the Texas Panhandle. I successfully completed a two year contract in July and continue as a free agent at News Channel 10. Where will the next road lead? I don't know, but I know it will be a GREAT adventure!
