Today, we're going to review part number T20BTR-6048. This is the Dexter Trailer Axle Beam with the standard spindles. It is 60 inches long and it has a 2,000 pound weight capacity. Now this axle beam will act as part of your trailer suspension system. Basically, you can use this to replace an axle on your trailer or you could actually use this to fabricate a suspension to fit your application. It's made of a high-strength steel construction. Also what you might notice, it's hard to see in the video here but basically the axle actually raises in the center.

It has a bend near the center of the axle and basically what this does is this bend in it is what will ensure the proper camber angle. Basically this will ensure that the angle of the wheels on your trailer are correct for your towing needs. Basically what happens is when you load your trailer down the bend would face up, so when you load or put your load on there it would actually push down on that axle and give it a straight axle and basically what that does is it will create a zero camber angle for even road to thread contact across the width of your trailer tires so that your trailer tires aren't at an angle. Once it's loaded down, it will put them at a zero camber angle. This is great for best straight line acceleration and steady controlled towing. Also, if you'll notice the spring seats right here on each side. It's an underslung design which means they're welded to the underside of the axle.

This is where you'll mount your leaf springs. This will give you a nice low ride height which makes it easier to load and unload your trailer. Also if you'll note the spindles are a straight spindle. There's no drop to them. They're a standard grease application. It does include this castle nut.

It is shipped with this castle nut and the cotter pin. Actually when we go to ship these, they do not ship them just like this, so that you don't want that to be scratched up or damaged. What they basically do would put grease to protect that and then bubble wrap around it and then they'll protect it with a tubing like that that will be wrapped around there so each end will have this around the end to protect it from any damage. Now the spring seats are welded on. The spindle is welded on. A few specs on this again.

It has a weight capacity of 2,000 pounds. The tubing outer diameter right in here is 1-3/4 inches. The spindle size right here is 1-1/16 diameter. Basically when you measure a trailer axle, there's actually multiple ways to measure the length of the axle beam but the 2 most accurate ways are the hub face to hub face and spring center to spring center lengths. Those are your 2 most accurate. Basically the hub face to hub face length what that means is it refers to the length of the axle. Once you have hubs on the end, in this case there's no hubs, but once you have your hubs on the end if you measure from the base of one wheel stud all the way across to the base of the wheel stud on the opposite hub of the axle that will give you your hub face to hub face length. Basically, on this one we're going to give you an idea since I don't have any hubs on there, but the hubs would slide in and install there, but basically just to give you an idea. You can see right about there and there's your 60 inches, so this will give you a 60 inch hub face to hub face length. The other measurement was the spring center to spring center length and that you can measure on this because you're measuring from the . It will basically give you the approximate width of your trailer. It's measured from the center of this spring seat to the center of the spring seat right over here. Basically on this we can do, so center to center, you can see is right at 48 inches. Basically if you're going to replace your trailer's axle, you should be able to figure out which type of axle you would need by determining your trailer's capacity, the bolt pattern of the wheels, the brake type and then the two lengths I just mentioned, the hub face and the spring center lengths.
