In this video were going to show how to stretch your neck and shoulders to improve range of motion and comfort. All these structures should be done with only minimal discomfort that she only lasted five minutes after the completion of the exercises. These exercises can be done to prevent shoulder injuries or after shoulder injuries like: rotator cuff tear, rotator cuff tendinitis, rotator cuff impingement, frozen shoulder, AC joint sprain and a labral tear.

In order to see a change in length of the tissues in the shoulder based on the stretching must be done consistently see a change in motion. In the early stages of an injury sometimes the loss of motion is due to muscle guarding and inflammation around the shoulder which prevents you from seeing changes in days immediately following an injury. The stretcher should not make your condition worsen but some discomfort is normal. In the early stages will do stretches three times a day for 30 times in each direction with a one or two second fold at the end where the stretches felt. As the patient has less acute pain we increase the time and the stretched position to a minimum of three times with 30 seconds.

Most of these stretches can be done with limited equipment in the comfort of your home. Often times we will start doing only one or two stretches prior to doing the full compliment of the five stretches.

In regards to the end stretches for the neck the patient we have provided a couple that can be done that are the most common stretches given out in the clinic. Since we have not performed the evaluation were just giving the ones that are most commonly recommended. It is very common for people that have had shoulder problems for a while to develop neck issues as a compensate and avoid using the shoulder for simple activities of daily living.
