Today we are building a Bug Hotel hopefully to attract Solitary Mason Bees
to the garden.

We have been spending so much time in the garden lately and with the wonderful
Spring weather, we have really been appreciating all the wildlife that has visited.

We thought this would be a great project to do with the kids as part of their
homeschooling and would also benefit our garden by giving beneficial insects a
better habitat.

Solitary Bees are responsible for pollinating so many of our plants, flowers and fruit trees
so by attracting them to our garden ours and our neighbours plants should benefit.

Throughout the coming months we are going to chart the progress of the bug hotel
and monitor the comings and goings of the bees as a nice homeschool project
for the kids.

All the materials we used to build this were what we found around the garden and in
the shed, so this has been a really economical project.
