1 - As per the recent leaks, the Wagon R EV could become the first EV from Maruti. The #WagonEV was spotted while testing on the Indian roads without any camouflage. As of now, there is information about the driving range, battery size, and charging time. While there is no official confirmation, the Wagon R EV could make its debut in early 2022.

2 - China-based Wuling has launched an affordable EV called Wuling #NanoEV in China. It is two seater car and is powered by 33PS electric motor that is capable of generating a maximum torque of 85 Nm. It packs a 28kWh lithium-ion battery pack that can offers up to 300 km of range. The Nano EV has a top speed of 100 kmph. It also supports 6.6-kW fast charger which takes 4.5 hours to fully charge the car.

3 - TVS has collaborated with Tata Power to set up Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure. The partnership will also install solar power technologies at TVS Motor locations. There are also plans to setup regular AC charging network and a DC fast-charging network for electric two-wheelers. With this, the TVS iQube owners can charge their scooters at this charging network using the TVS Motor customer connect app and Tata Power EZ Charge app.

4 - Bounce has acquired the EV startup called 22Motors. With this acquistion Bounce is all set to transition completely to an EV startup. It will building its own fleet of EVs. The company also setup an independent subsidiary called Zuink which will focus on retrofitting the existing scooters into electric scooters using government approved kits. These scooters will be powered by swappable batteries. While the company has been testing a few hundred scooters, it is looking to expand its volumes to over 100,000 scooters this year.

5 - According to Times of India, Tata Motors is said to be in advanced stages to raise $1 billion for its EV business. As per the report, Tata Motors EV business will be valued at $8 billion. It is said to have attracted multiple private equity funds from the US, Middle East and Southeast Asia. Tata Motors currently holds more than 70 percent of India's electric vehicle market. While the company is already selling Nexon EV and Tigor EV, it is also said to be working on Altroz EV and Punch EV.

6 - US-based Triton EV is going to set up a Rs 2,100-crore electric vehicle manufacturing facility in Telagana. Triton EV is the subsidiary of Triton Solar. The manufacturing facility will be coming at NIMZ Zaheerabad in Sangareddy District. The project will employ more than 25,000 persons and will produce 50,000 vehicles over the first five years. It includes semi-trucks, sedans, luxury SUVs, and rickshaws.

7 - Tata Motors recently unveiled its new micro-SUV called the Punch. Just like the other Tata cars, the ICE-powered Punch might also get an electric variant powered by the Ziptron technology. During the launch, Tata Punch will only have just one engine option – a 1.2-litre petrol motor. In 2022, we might also see the Tata Punch to get an electric powertrain.

8 - MG Motor has announced the new Marvel-R and 2022 MG ZS EV for the European markets. The new Marvel-R will be available in rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive variatns. The Performance variant with all-wheel drive setup has motor output to 285hp and 664Nm of torque. It can go from 0 to 100kmph in just 3.0 seconds. All variants of the MG Marvel-R comes packed with a 70kWh battery pack that can offers 370 to 400 km of WLTP-certified range. It supports up to 92kW fast charging, meaning it can be charged from 5% to 80% in just 43 minutes.

9 - The 2022 MG ZS EV comes with 51kWh and 72kWh battery pack options. It now comes with a larger 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Using a 100kW DC fast charger, the 72kWh version can be fully charged from 0% to 100% in just 42 mins. Both these new EVs will be available in Europe from next month.

10 - During the annual shareholders meeting in Austin, Elon Musk has announced the company headquarters will be moved to Texas from California. Even after the headquarters is shifted, the company is planning to increase output from its California and Nevada factories by 50%. California's stronger labour laws and higher living costs and taxes than other states is one of the main reason for this decision.
