Sequels: After Stravinsky's Rite of Spring

Описание к видео Sequels: After Stravinsky's Rite of Spring

Primitivism--music describing ancient rituals, far-off places, and exotic cultures--took off after the 1913 premiere of Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring. Here are half a dozen (very loud) primitivist masterpieces, clearly inspired by the Russian composer's iconic work. Massive orchestras with huge percussion sections dominate, in music by Varèse, Schulhoff, Antheil, Revueltas, Ginastera and Antill. Your speakers will never be the same, and your neighbors may never speak to you again, but who cares?
