Yoji Shinkawa is best known for his striking concept art and illustrations in Metal Gear Solid 1 and 2, creating a unique and mature manga style. Metal Gear Solid introduced a new standard for storytelling and voice acting, with Solid Snake infiltrating the shadow mozes nuclear disposal facility to stop terrorists from taking over. The game featured memorable characters, such as Meryl and Revolver Ocelot, and Snake's cloned brother Liquid Snake as the mastermind behind the terrorist group. Metal Gear Solid 2 Sons of Liberty raised the bar for the tactical espionage action genre, with Snake and Otacon receiving intelligence about a new type of Metal Gear being transported through the Hudson River, leading to a thrilling story that introduced new characters like FOXHOUND operative Raiden. Shinkawa's unique style utilizes black shadows effectively and features a light gradient toned color scheme.
