Chris Alexander, Canada’s former Ambassador to Afghanistan, will discuss Pakistan’s direct role in the Taliban’s takeover of the country.

Speaker’s Biography

Christopher A. Alexander is a former diplomat and Conservative Party of Canada politician. He spent 18 years in the Canadian Foreign Service, serving as Canada’s first resident Ambassador to Afghanistan from 2003 to 2005. He served as Deputy Special Representative of the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan until 2009. Alexander represented the riding of Ajax—Pickering after winning his seat in the 2011 election, and was appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of National Defence. On July 15, 2013, he was appointed Canada’s Minister of Citizenship and Immigration, a position he held until 2015.
