Argentina fuel shortage: Drivers hunt for gas "like water in the desert"

On Monday, Argentinian drivers sought scarce supplies of fuel to refill their tanks amid the most severe shortage in years. This scarcity has depleted many gas stations, leading to extensive lines at the few operational pumps.

"It's like looking for water in the desert," one driver said.

It's also sparked anger at the government ahead of a second-round presidential election runoff next month between the ruling Peronist coalition's economy chief Sergio Massa, seen as the front-runner, and libertarian Javier Milei.

"For me, this is a dirty trick by the government because (Economy minister, Sergio) Massa plays dirty,” another driver said.
